Education
The apostolate of education is a heritage, CMC has inherited from her founder fathers St.Chavara Kuriakose Elias and Carmelite Missionary Fr.Leopold Beccardo. CMC entered into the education field of Kerala informally in 1867.Eduacation field is an apostolic arena entrusted to us by our founding fathers from the beginning of our congregation. It is not just a profession but a sacred call, a great apostolate through which we participate in the teaching mission of the church. Our educational systems mould our students to be better human being by giving human, spiritual animation. In the schools and colleges we conduct moral instruction classes and thereby cultivating in children and youth a spirit of prayer, sense of discipline, responsibility, generosity and truthfulness.
The province of Jaichristo came into existence on 1977 comprising three states Kerala, Tamilnadu and Madhya Pradesh. Our first school Kanikkamatha was started in 1961 at Palakkad. Later we extended our education mission to rural and tribal areas especially in Attappady.CMC Jaichristo province entered in the Higher Education field in the year 1964 with the establishment of Mercy college for women, affiliated to the Kerala University. These institutions are managed by Carmelite sisters of Jaichristo CMC Education Agency. Majority of sisters are engaged in teaching at various levels. Convents in Madhya Pradesh were declared as Christo Province, Indore in 2016. At present Jaichristo province has
1- Arts and Science college,1- Parallel college,
8-Higher secondary schools,9-High schools, 1- UP Schools, 13-LP Schools,4-Nursery Schools,1- Higher Secondary Special school for differently abled children,2- School of Paramedical Science.
Our institutions are excellent in academic and co-curricular activities. We are eager to impart the redeeming light of wisdom along with technical and scientific knowledge . We also provide classes in Yoga, meditation etc. which help them to turn inward and find their inner self. We give special consideration to the education of the poor and the marginalized to build up the kingdom community.
